hCG Diet Guideline

Which hCG Diet is Best?

There are several ways to do the hcg diet protocol. You can follow Dr. Simeons Pounds and Inches, you can follow Kevin Trudeau’s The Weight Loss Cure, or you can go to a local clinic in your area. Search for hCG diet clinics to find a clinic close to you or you can use an online diet clinic at less than 2/3′s the cost.

Dr. Simeons and Kevin Trudeau offer DIY plans while the hCG diet clinical route is a supervised plan. Either way you will lose weight.

You have to be comfortable with your decision as to which is the best diet protocol for you. If you are following a DIY plan, please consult your doctor regarding your health and well-being before starting this or any diet. Know where to get your diet supplies> and follow the diet as it is laid out for optimal weight loss.
hCG Diet Preparation
Let’s look at a few products that are good for use with the hCG diet protocol regardless of whether you follow Pounds and Inches, The Weight Loss Cure or go the clinical route.
  • Food scale that measures in grams.
  • Body Fat Tape Measure
  • The George Foreman grill is very popular and easy to use.
  • Fiber, specifically psyllium seeds or psyllium husks from your local health food store. Psyllium is fiber as are Miracle Noodles, which are perfect for the hCG diet. Why are Miracle Noodles an hCG diet free food? One of the many reasons is that they have no calories!
  • Smooth Move Tea or Dieters Tea to help with any constipation you may have while on the diet.
hCG Diet Do’s & Don’ts
Do
  • Follow the plan you choose, Dr. Simeons’s Pounds and Inches, Simeons’ Kevin Trudeau’s The Weight Loss Cure or your clinic’s.
  • Drink a minimum of 8 – 8 oz glass of water a day. An additional 8 oz per 25 pounds of excess weight should be added for optimal results.
  • Light exercise.
  • Use mineral oil, baby oil, oil free lotions as needed or Ancient Minerals Ultra Pure Magnesium Oil.
  • Use food seasonings to flavor food but read labels to avoid sugar, starches or sugar alcohols.
  • Use sugar substitutes.

Don’t
  • Use products containing oil, such as lotions and cream on skin or hair.
  • Drink diet drinks, sodas or sugar free drinks.
  • Use make up that contains oils. Bare Escentuals Makeup is an excellent choice.
  • Use fats, oil, margarine in cooking, or ingest them.
  • Use or eat sugar or gum.
  • Eat foods with known starches or sugar free foods
hCG Diet Tips & Tricks
Having a binge eating feast or cheating on your hCG diet protocol is like restarting, but sometimes we just want something to satisfy a craving or need something different. To avoid breaking your hCG diet plan and still abate those cravings, or to just break up the strictness of the diet, occasionally you can have the following:
Tips to avoid a cheat
  • Sugar Free jello
  • Diet soda (go easy)
  • Popsicle with 0 fat, sugar and calories
  • L-Glutamine for cravings
  • Drink water.
  • Ice chips (the best ice is SONIC ice!!)
  • Adding fiber with Miracle Noodles.
Tricks to stay on hCG diet plan
  • Keep your hcg diet food on hand at all times.
  • Make food a few days out to avoid waiting till you are hungry to decide to cook.
  • Eat your food slowly.
  • Use a small salad plate vs. a huge dinner plate. This creates a visual and psychological effect.
Tips for a stall
  • If you find you are having a hCG diet stall (a stall is not losing for 4 or more days in a row) and need to get moving to stay motivated try the following;
  • Switch up what you are eating. If you find you are only eating steak, try chicken. If you are only eating chicken, try fish.
  • Add additional water to your current intake.
  • Try Corn Silk tea, Parsley tea, or Alpha tea. These are natural diuretics that may help you release additional water. There are additional natural diuretics.
  • Cut out the breadsticks or melba toast.
  • No eating out for a while.
  • Cut out diet drinks.
  • Check your hCG diet protocol rules and make sure you are eating as prescribed (mixing veggies, 100 grams of food, etc.)
  • Mix your fruit up and don’t have the same 2 fruits on the same day.
  • Avoid beef for a few days.
  • Cut out diet cheats or treats.
  • As a last resort if all else fails, eat 6 apples for 1 day, plus enough water to satisfy thirst
  • Try one of these hCG diet stall breaker meals,Apple Day or Steak Day.
Tips for eating out while in hCG diet protocol
If you have to eat out, grilled chicken salad works best, but needless to say, skip the dressing, cheese and croutons. You will probably be served more than 100 grams and you won’t be able to weight it, but it’s still the best choice. Some fast food places offer fruit or other healthier choices. As long as the fruit doesn’t have preservatives or additives they would be fine to eat.
hCG Food Shopping List
Depending on which hCG diet protocol you follow your list may vary, this is a general hcg diet food list. Check your hCG diet food list to determine what you can or can’t have.
Eating organic is the best way to do the hCG diet protocol, however it may be cost prohibitive. Dr. Simeons developed the hCG diet and wrote Pounds and Inches during a time when hormones and pesticides were not widely used. He was also in another country that has vastly different guidelines on foods. However, you can still loss weight without being organic. It may be slower but it is possible.
Lean Meats:
steak, ground beef, chicken breast, veal
Seafood:
crab, lobster, shrimp, prawns, whiting fish, tilapia, flounder, haddock and other lean white fish
Seasoning:
sea salt, thyme, basil, garlic, onion powder and others that you like
Veggies:
fresh or fresh frozen spinach, various lettuces, asparagus, broccoli, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, chard, beet greens, cabbage
Fruit:
apples, oranges, strawberries, lemons, red grapefruit
Misc:
Melba toast, salsa (no sugar added), organic apple cider, sugar substitutes, teas
hCG Diet Stallers and Craving Causers
There are some foods or additives that may cause people to stall on the hCG diet. YMMV because we are all individuals with different food sensitivities. You have to judge for yourself and observe how your body chemistry responds.
  • Splenda
  • Equal
  • Caffeine (in some, not all people)
  • Sugar alcohols
  • Ascorbic acid and or Citric Acid (found in sodas)
  • Egg yolks (arachidonic acid is found in the yolks)
  • Too many sodas
  • Too little water
  • Not having variety in foods

hubby and i are strarting hcg tomorrow not sure how to start so many sites what do eat can anyone help thank youn maria
@maria washburn, Hi. Before starting you need to understand the diet and what to eat. Your in the right place for real hCG diet information and what to do. There is a lot to read on the site so I'd start with the hCG Diet Journey homepage and take it from there! HTH
Me and my husband are starting tomorrow. We eat healthy but just too much. We do drink etoh (me diet coke/R&R and my husband beer) we have a couple before dinner and occoc. skip dinner to save caleries. I have about 10-15# to lose and My husband approx 25#. I know for sure he wont give up the beer but maybe cut back. He currently drinks approx 4 beers/night- me approx 2 drinks- We do know this will hinder our progress but how much ??? will it take twice as much time? more/less. Any info would help so we know kinda what to expect. Thanks for your support and any advice you can give. I know giving it up is best- I cant talk him into this and I cant tolerate him w/o at least 1 drink myself (once he gets a buzz) Best, Sherri
@sherri, Well it will be hard to lose weight with beer. The hCG diet is a very low carb diet with the carbs coming from fiber. Beer is a sugar alcohol carb and will lose weight loss tremendously. While on the diet, 26 days or 42 days I should be avoided at all costs.
I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and have been given a hormone replacement that is an oil I use twice a day and I have also been prescribed a diuretic that I take twice a day. I know both of these meds are not allowed on the plan. Are there ever exceptions made to allow for prescriptions?
@Missy Martin, You will have to check with a doctor about how hCG interacts with your medications and such as we do not answer health, medical or medication questions. However people do take medications while on the diet and still do well.
After completing the VLCD phase successfully (loosing 23 lbs), I was on my third day of the maintence phase and cheated horribly eating both starch and sugar. I've weighted myself this morning and I've gained 5lbs just after that one day. Disappointed and nervous, I'm trying out the steak day. What happens if the weight I have gained does not come off? Any tips would be awesome.
@meg mcnaulty, Okay you can get thru this little cheat. Yes do a steak day. Increase your water intake to over 2 liters and also do some walking for about 20-30 min. Know that a quick gain like that is not fat but water so that should help ease your mind a bit. It may not come off in a day or so but it will. Just don't panic get back on the plan and you will make it. Go to hCG Diet Phase 3 foods that may help. Also don't be afraid of using fat, good fats can help curb cravings and hunger as it keeps you satisfied. Please know that you will always be tempted with food. Keeping to your food choices and keeping fit is a lifestyle change and it is An Inconvenient Life.
can I take the drops longer then three weeks at a time?
@Serina, There is a 26 day protocol and a 42 day protocol for the hCG diet then on to P3 which is 3 weeks of stabilizing your weight. Then waiting 6 weeks to start another round (and add 2 weeks each additional round). Not sure what you are referring to about doing the hCG diet longer than 3 weeks.
