Foods That Stall hCG Diet

DOESN’T THIS GRAPHIC LOOK DELICIOUS?

It is pretty obvious that candy, sugar, donuts, cakes, and similar foods will cause you to stall on the hCG diet. But what if you are doing everything right, not eating junk, and you are still stalled? What if you have done the hCG diet apple day and hCG diet steak day? What if you are drinking 8-8oz glasses of water and then some? What if the scale only moves with those apple days and steak days, and the second you go back to your hCG diet food, you stall?

Then, my friend it’s time to dig into what you are eating and find the offending foods.

Are you using Splenda or Equal? Splenda and Equal are great to sweeten up your hCG diet tea, and add to foods. Plus, you can cook with Splenda, but too much may stall you on the hCG diet. Consider ditching Splenda for Stevia. Stevia is a not only a natural product, but it also has a dual function as an appetite suppressant.

But I’ve already stopped using Splenda and switched to Stevia?

Are you eating eggs as part of your hCG diet food? The egg yolk is a little fat ball, and fat has 9 calories per gram. But that isn’t the really bad part about egg yolks. Egg yolks contain arachidonic acid, which is a fatty acid that is good in small doses, but too much can promote inflammation. Some dieters, who may also be sensitive to arachidonic acid, stand a good chance of a stall in their dieting efforts.

But I only eat egg whites. So what else could stall me on the hCG diet?

Humm, you’re tough nut to crack. Okay moving on.

Are you eating a lot of manmade foods? Unfortunately, food manufacturers like to add a hint of sweetness (sugar) to make seasonings and foods more appealing to the masses. Check ingredients for the following, as they are sugar by another name.

• Corn Sweetener
• Corn Syrup or Corn Syrup Solids
• Dehydrated Cane Juice
• Dextrin
• Dextrose
• Fructose
• Fruit Juice Concentrate
• Glucose
• High-Fructose Corn Syrup
• Honey
• Invert Sugar
• Lactose
• Maltodextrin
• Malt Syrup
• Maltose
• Maple Syrup
• Molasses
• Raw Sugar
• Rice Syrup
• Sacchalose
• Sorghum or Sorghum Syrup
• Sucrose
• Syrup
• Treacle
• Turbinado Sugar
• Xylose
• Sugar Alcohols
• Maltitol
• Sorbitol
• Maltitol Syrup
• Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate
• Xylitol
• Isomalt
• Lactitol
• Mannitol
• Erythritol

WOW huge list!

Okay some of the ingredients I’ve been using are listed. What else could stall me on the hCG diet?

Well, SODA. I know you drink it because you are bored to death with water. BUT Soda is probably the #1 staller for most people on the hCG diet or any diet. Not only does it have Equal or Splenda, but also ascorbic and citric acid.

Ascorbic acid is a sugar acid often referred to as Vitamin C. Vitamin C is good, but in the synthetic form as often found in soda, it may cause you to stall. Of course the food coloring, caramel and such doesn’t help in soda, but there it is.

The citric acid can be a sensitivity issue for some people, and too many sodas can = too much citric acid.

Anything Else?

Well, good old fashion salt. Yes, you need salt. Salt, or sodium, aids in helping the body maintain homeostasis, the body’s delicate chemical balance. Too much salt will cause you to retain water, which shows up on the scale as a gain or no loss. Again, if you’ re into soda vs. water, you may want to reconsider your love affair with soda. If you are heavy handed with seasonings, then you may want to cut down on your use of salt, and check your man made seasonings for salt.

This is a lot!

But, we are not done. Another big offender on the hCG diet that causes stalls is not eating a variety of foods. Avoid eating the same meat, vegetable, and fruit for lunch and dinner, and then turning around and replaying it for lunch and dinner the next day. You have to keep variety in the hCG diet menu.

This is it right?

Well, that is tricky. You are an individual and some things may stall you and not others, so you may have to play with the allowed hCG diet foods to see what stalls you. The above are the more obvious stallers. Start from there and rule out different things while you are actively dieting.

Another thing,

Check your body fat measurements, as well as your weight. You should do this from the start, but sometimes the body may not lose weight, but the inches are coming off, aka FAT or vise versa, and sometimes everything is 100% perfect in your diet, and suddenly, a woosh happens. This is called the Woosh Fairy, and she is fickle at passing out her weight loss dreams. Read about the Woosh Fairy, it may help you understand, and know you are not alone. And she, the Woosh Fairy has a poem!

@Paula, You can cook with both for flavor. Mixing veggies if for FRESH veggies like in a salad. Here is a link to the guidelines for the hCG Diet
Have questions....too much info on internet is contradictory. Can I have broccoli? Jello? Also, how do you take the drops? I think I have been doing it wrong. No where on the instructions does it say leave under toungue for 5 mins and then I see it on a site. How do I leave under tongue for 5 mins? I just put under my tongue and swallowed???
@Name (Required), Did you get the drops from here? If so you would have gotten instructions. I can only tell you how to do the drops here because not all drops are equal. 5 minutes is minimum to hold. You can spit out or swallow. Yes to both on food.
I have been on the diet a week now. I have lost 9.2 lbs total. THe last couple of days have been slow, but I have had to take allergie meds.- Benedryl and Zyrtec because I had a flair up around my eyes. Could this be slowing things down? Looks like it might be normal according to these posts, but I only lost .4 and .2 the last two days. I am also going to order the b-12 ultra lised because I have not beening taking vitamins. My cousin is doing this with me and as of a couple of days ago she was around 9-10 lbs loss and has slowed to .5 a day.One thing I did wrong initially alot of people don't realize is I used the wrong Stevia! Some have sugar in them. I just ordered the Sweet Leaf stevia, and I have some liquid stevia by NOW I'm using. Hope that kind is ok. The Guy at GNC sold me that one and Some White powder stevia- which turned out had some form of sugar-I discontined a couple of days ago after talking to my consultant. Just a warning to everyone- safest to buy the Sweet Leaf only, but I hope the NOW stevia is ok. Looks like it is ok on the igredients....
I am very overweight and on my 16th day of the HCG Protocol (for a total of 40 injections) and have lost almost 12 lbs, which I guess it is within the "normal" range. I continue to be a bit confused about mixing greens + tomato+ onions... Would that be considered as a "one vegetable" count on the diet? Also, (I know I still have many days ahead of me for the 21 maintenance plan with ho sugars of starches!), but I would like to see a sample menu of what a well blanced "maintenance plan" should be, what kind os carbs can actually be added safely, etc. And if, indeed, a 800 calorie a day should be kept for woman and 1000 for men, or it all depends... Another point I am confused is about the "Apple Day" during HCG, you start at noon and end the next day, also noon time, for a maximum of 6 apples... So, do you eat the normal protocal food for dinner that day, after the last "noon apple"? Thanks a lot for all your support. It was really wonderful to find this "HCG Diet Journey"! All the best!
@Catherine Aguilar, Strict protocol says no mixing of veggies, some people can do it without issue, some cannot. There isn't a menu for the P3, however I do have a P3 food list. For Apple day it's a stall breaker so the next day you go back to 500 caloires.
I have been taking homeopathic hcg and have my daughter on it. I have lost 33 pounds and she has lost 25. The brand was given to me by people who have lost and I have passed it on. I'm concerned about it after reading your stuff. If I want to take your product, how long should I wait before I start since I have been on the homeopathic stuff for three weeks. This is my second round of the diet. I certainly don't want to lead my friends and family down the wrong path. Help! Also, can I combine veggies in one meal, like lettuce and onions, and tomatoes?
@Judi, Yes anyone will lose weight on 500 calories a day. No one will dispute that fact. However it is the presence of the hCG hormone that will protect your muscles from being lost and release your fat. The hCG hormone is the same hormone that is produced in large number during pregnancy to nourish the fetus/baby when a women is pregnant. The hCG hormone releases the stored fat a women carries until the placenta is fully developed to do it's job. This is what Dr. Simeons discovered and researched and this is why real hCG MUST be used in the proper dosage. Anything less you are losing muscle and not releasing your fat. If you have done followed the diet with homeopathic I would follow the 21 days P3 phase as well and then go back do the real hCG drops. You want to increase your protein to replace what you have lost. Give your body time to recover and recoup. HTH
I'm starting the HCG diet tomorrow (HCG drops) and i would like to know if the shirataki noodles are ok for phase 1 of the diet? Thanks
@Jules, More for the second phase vs. phase 1
