The second most asked question about the hCG diet protocol is, “What food can I eat on the hCG diet?”

You can use a variety of seasonings to spice up your foods, when cooking.  Just read labels and avoid spices and seasoning with added sugar, fat and MSG.  And you can purchase an hCG diet cookbook from the hCG Diet Store to prevent yourself from getting into a cooking rut.

A cooking rut or boredom can be a reason for diet failure.

Turkey, Dr. Simeons does not list Turkey or other fowl on the hCG diet.

Seafood 3.5 ounces/100 grams

Cod = 83 calories
Real Crab Meat = 100 calories (Imitation crab meat is NOT ALLOWED because it is very high in carbs, and is processed.  NOT good for Phase 2 or 3)
Flounder = 90 calories
Haddock = 88 calories
Halibut = 110 calories
Lobster = 98 calories
Red Snapper = 110 calories
Shrimp = 110 calories
Tilapia = 94 calories

All proteins must be weighed on your scale. There isn't a standard weight to proteins it all depends on the size, cut, thickness etc.

Bread 1 piece = 1 serving

1 Grissini Bread stick = 12 calories
1 Melba Toast = 12 calories

For the hCG diet 1 bread stick or Melba Toast = 1 Serving.  You are only allowed 1 serving per meal.

Hi Dez, I've helped 5 friends do the HCG protocol and always direct them to your site since it is so full of resources and sticks most closely to Dr Simeone's orginal protocol out of all the sites I've checked. Thank you so much for all of the work you've done! You've helped countless people be successful on HCG. I noticed that broccoli and cauliflower were added to your food list. I'm nervous about adding these in and am wondering if you have info on why these are ok now....

If they are low glycemic, which broccolli and cauliflower are, they are fine to eat. It's only carrots, corn and peas primarily that are higher in sugar content. Tomatoes are considered fruit.


When buying HCG always ask for the companys name who is selling the HCG. Than look it up and see if there is any feedback on it. is a great place to buy it from. I lost 30 lbs less than 2 months but mind you I did cheat a few times too. If your afraid to try certain food b/c your not to sure sometimes it's worth it. Like the Juicing the fruit. Everybody is different. I had scallops and lost weight. So you will know what your body will reject and what not. Good Luck!

Curious where the calorie information is coming from...i cant find anything even close to these results....just right of the top.. you are saying that asparagus has 3 calories in 3.5 oz? Ive looked at calories a fairly decent amount as i am trying to say as close to 500 calories as far as i can see for the majority of your calorie information they are way off...just curious where u get the info because if u follow this list u would be eating well over 500 calories a day.any light that u can shed on ky xonfusion would be greatly appreciated
