hCG Diet Holiday Break

Well it is that time of year that dieting becomes difficult for most. The top questions right now are; How do you take a break on the hCG diet? How do you cheat on the hCG diet? What happens when you cheat on the hCG diet? I am planning to cheat on the hCG diet? How do you recover from a hCG diet cheat? And well you get it, most want to break for Thanksgiving, are planning on cheating, or want to make sure they can recover.

Rest assured this article will help guide you through the ins and outs of breaking, cheating, and recovery on the hCG Diet.

hCG Diet Break

Dr. Simeons does address a break or interruption on the hCG diet after 20 injections or oral hCG.

“If an interruption of treatment lasting more than four days is necessary, the patient must increase his diet to at least 800 calories by adding meat, eggs, cheese, and milk to his diet after that third day, as otherwise he will find himself so hungry and weak that he is unable to go about his usual occupation. If the interval lasts less than two weeks the patient can directly resume injections and the 500-caloire diet, but if the interruption lasts longer he must again eat normally until he has had his third injection.

When a patient knows beforehand that he will have to travel and be absent for more than four days, it is always better to stop injections three days before he is due to leave so that he can have the three days of strict dieting which are necessary after the last injection at home.”

What this means is if you are planning to go away for the Thanksgiving Day holiday or even Christmas holiday and you don’t want to be on the hCG diet during that time, follow the instructions above. Stop injections or oral hCG as you would when you are at the end of the hCG Diet Phase 2. However, you should still follow the no starch or sugar rule.

hCG Diet Planned Cheat

If you are just planning to cheat on Thanksgiving Day only, DO NOT INJECT or take the ORAL hCG. hCG takes about 3 days to totally leave your system and you may gain rapidly during that cheat time. Missing one dose won’t hurt, especially if you are going to have a planned cheat day.

After a planned cheat, you may gain weight or you may lose weight. No I am not talking in circles, the Leptin Theory plays a role in the answer. Who will gain or who will lose, we can’t answer that. It is truly a YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) as we are all individuals.

hCG Diet Cheat Recovery

After you have cheated or had your planned break, the next thing is to recover and get back on the hCG diet ASAP. Take your gains, suck it up and ride the pony to your goal with strict dieting from this cheat fourth.

Increase you exercise routine, add an extra 30 min to your activity. If you don’t exercise then start until the scale is moving again.
Increase your water intake.
Use some natural diuretics to rid your body of any water gains.
Cut the break sticks and Melba toast.
Use an Apple day or Steak Day the day you get back on hCG injections or Oral hCG.

Dieting isn’t easy and the hCG diet is hardcore. But there is a reason you decided to do this diet, there is a reason you chose now to lose weight. Whatever your goal is, use that to guide you back on your track, keep you focused and you will obtain your desired result.

@ Michelle: Well yes weigh and measure, but do you measure you, that is must as important. You will get there!
Wow... so thankful I've found your forum website. All of you have asked the questions I wanted to ask and I've need guidance and answers to Thanksgiving. I've slowed WAY down this past week and its VERY frustrating. I'm gonna keep on keeping on. I've lost 15 pounds in 24 days (with absolutely no cheating) and now everything seems to have come to a complete stand still the past week. Didn't know if I should continue to the 40 day or not, or go to p3 for a break before a r2. Suggestions?
@ Michelle: Are you on drops (which kind) or injections? Reason is sometimes you can up the dosage a bit to help, try an apple day or steak day and are you measuring? And how much weight do you have to lose? That is so important. But anyway, sometimes the body needs a break and P3 would be good for that then restart.
Hi, I'm on my second week of hcg. I want to cheat for thanksgiving. I read in the other post not to take my drops on the day I'm planning to cheat. I was going to go to the gym and workout to counter act my cheating. Is that ok?
@ Brittany: Yes do some extra at the gym to help counter act but it still may take a day or so to recover and start losing again or the Leptin effect may kick in. One never knows.
I'm confused though if the HCG takes 3 days to get out of your system wouldn't it still fully be in your system even though you just don't take the drops that one day on Thanksgiving? Thanks
@ Tonia: Yes it takes 3 days, but the point is 2 fold. If you know you are going to cheat, why waste it? And why gain more with full strength in your system? This may help lower the amount you gain and give you an extra day to on the diet that you lost by cheating.
I'm in Becky's scenario - Thanksgiving is day 35 for me, so I would have 8 more days. I am in such a dilemma with the planned cheat day...I've been VERY good and so far have lost 20 lbs. (only 30 more to go..for ideal weight, so am planning round 2 after 6 weeks of no drops). Do I understand that you only stop taking the drops Thanksgiving day only (for just the one day cheat) OR do I stop 3 days before hand? Also....what if I want the whole shibang...turkey, mashed taters, asparagus casserole, pumpkin pie and a hot buttered roll....Realizing it's depending on each person....if i'm going to gain 5 lbs the next day, I almost don't want to do it... Also,....I lost alot at first but the last couple of weeks have only lost 7 lbs total. A few days with nothing happening - thought I was on a plateau, but on the 4th day, dropped one lb. don't know if it was a stall or something, my cosmetics are natural, calories are at the 500, i do mix vegetables...anyway. Maybe it's that leptin theory you mention. This morning I didn't lose a thing but gained .4... however, right now more concerned with the tentative planned cheat day on favorite holiday of the year...
@ Cindy: There are 3 choices, if you want to continue the diet and know you are going to cheat for Thanksgiving, then don't take the drops/inject that day, cheat, then get back to the diet. If you are going to cheat and have done the diet for 20 days, Dr. S. does allow the break which is described but you still have to watch what you eat. BUT if you have been on the diet almost to the end and you want to stop the diet and move to P3 which will allow more food then you can. P3 is no sugar no starch so you will have to watch what you eat. It's really up to you as to what is going to work best. Also sounds like you just may need a break, 7 pounds over all the last few weeks? How is the inch loss? Are you doing any exercise? Personally I would step back from the diet moved to P3. Could be leptin and it would be your body is just not wanting to lose weight right now. But whatever you do, get some extra cardio or other exercise in to help offset the cheat. Don't take any plates home with you and try to avoid second helpings. If you feel you must, have meats and a salad. HTH
@Dez, thanks for the advice! the 7 lb loss has only been for the last 2 weeks....before it was pretty steady and now it's like every other day... i think i'll keep going for now and re-evaluate 3 days before turkey day....may stop it then, but for now will plan on a thanksgiving day cheat and will up the exercise! and go from there! love your website and have bookmarked it~
